This cushion I also just made it for my son's room, which I try to keep in the Ocean theme (even though it looks a little eclectic).
The idea of making one came in a very practical way. I had the old cushion filler with the unusual size. So I decided to make my own cover for it.
Again, I had the idea about the color combination, the theme, but I couldn't find any patterns which could be helpful in it. So I create the design, which actually was changing few times while I was making the cushion cover.
Also I wanted to "play" with the different stitches. I chosen the simple ones.
For a big cushion I didn't want to spend too long dealing the complicated stitches.
I think this pillow shows several things: 1) creativity 2) resourcefulness 3)willingness to stretch your creativity in new ways by learning new techniques - all attributes of what would make a creative,wonderful QUILTER!
